Steph Iles
I’ve lived in Quebec, Texas, California, and now call Rockwood, Tennessee home. I’ve been married for 30 years, and I still say it’s the best decision I ever made. My husband and I raised two sons, whom I homeschooled, and they’re now thriving in their own lives. I’m also blessed with several grandkids who bring me so much joy.
I attended Western Seminary in San Jose, CA, where I studied Marriage and Family Therapy. I loved the program because it wove together my faith and my love for understanding people. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 12 years in youth ministry and discovered how much I enjoy walking alongside teens and families during hard seasons. When my boys grew up and left home, I decided it was time to deepen my skills and become a licensed therapist.
Since 2017, I’ve had the privilege of working with teens in rehab, students in a continuation high school, and individuals and families in private practice. Every story is different, and I never stop being amazed by people’s ability to grow and heal.
Now, I’m thrilled to be in private practice here in rural Tennessee. My approach is mostly client-centered. I believe therapy works best when we work together at your pace. I draw from several different modalities depending on what fits best for each person. I’m trained in EMDR but also use Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other approaches when they make sense. Sometimes I’ll even incorporate art into sessions for those who enjoy a more creative process.
